Internship (Fisheries Extension Assistant)

Lilongwe, Malawi

About the Position

WorldFish would like to hire an intern who will assist in extension services and project support to Malawi WorldFish Country office and ensure that collection of data is organized by using an effective system of data management. The position will support and provide back- up to the Country Manager/Science Lead on socioeconomic impacts.

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist in field data collection in Northern Region and parts of Central Region.
  • Assist in entering Data on Tablet/Computer.
  • Assist to conduct Initial Cleaning of Data to ensure Consistency.
  • Submit Monthly reports on progress, write and submit a report at the end of internship period.

Requirements

This opportunity will be suitable for you if you have the below skills and qualifications:

  • Diploma or better in Agriculture, Aquaculture or other related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience ideally in a similar role management exposure welcomed.
  • Excellent working knowledge of extension protocols and processes for effective field work.
  • Ability to work in a team and able to manage diversity and gender issues. The position holder must demonstrate that he/she is able to participate in decisions on a timely basis, set priorities, meet deadlines, and solve problems.
  • Some exposure working in a similar role in international organizations relating to project/program and financial reporting would be advantageous.
  • Good command of local languages Chichewa, ChiTumbuka and English (both verbal and written).
  • Strong sense of professionalism, business ethics and integrity.
  • Should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Teams applications.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines with minimum supervision.

Location and Duration

This is an opening opportunity and the intern will be based in Mzuzu, Malawi. The successful candidate should be available to commence the internship as soon as possible for a duration of 03months. This position is open only to national applicants. Interviews are expected to be held in June 2023 and only shortlisted candidates will be notified and expected to attend the interview.
